Building Inspector Community Development $41,096 – $48,150 Open Until Filled
Professional full-time work involving inspecting and related code enforcement for residential and commercial structures for compliance with plans, building codes, and other regulations.  This includes all associated administrative and technical work with the operations of the job related duties.  Performs inspections of new buildings under construction and existing buildings which are being repaired, remodeled or enlarged.  Commercial and residential buildings are inspected during various stages of completion to insure their structural integrity and to check for conformance with the Florida Building Codes and ordinances.  Inspections may be general in nature or may be limited to a specific area, such as residential (one or two dwelling), building, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing. Accountable to and works under the direction of the Building Official or Community Development Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible experience in duties related to building construction, inspection and/or design, or in the administration and enforcement of regulatory controls.
    (A comparable amount of education, training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)

LICENSES, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION:

  • Must possess and maintain and valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Obtain and/or maintain certification by the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) as a Residential Standard Inspector (One and Two Family Dwelling)
  • Preferred DBPR certification as Standard Plans Examiner
  • Preferred DBPR certification(s) as Building, Commercial Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Inspector

Communications Operator Police $28,182 – $31,737 Open Until Filled
Performs work within a twenty-four (24) hour per day, seven (7) days per week, emergency dispatch center taking both police and fire calls for service and dispatching the appropriate service calls.  Answers equipment (phones, radios and E911 calls) to receive and/or respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for assistance/information from officers and the general public to assist in the protection of life and property. Accountable to and works under the direction of the Police Chief.  Full Time position with full benefits package and pension.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalent diploma.
  • Must have valid Florida Class “E” driver’s license and valid telephone number.
    (A comparable amount of education, training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)

LICENSES, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION:

  • FCIC/NCIC certified
  • Emergency 9-1-1 Operator Certification
  • Valid Florida’s Driver’s License

Police Officer Police $33,656 – $37,799 Open Until Filled
Responsible Police Work in the protection of life & property through the enforcement of laws & ordinances.  Assists the public in the prevention and reporting of criminal activity, documentation of evidence, traffic enforcement and traffic accidents. Accountable to and works under the direction of the Police Chief.  H.S. Grad or GED.  Certification as a Police Officer by the Florida Department of Criminal Justice, Standards, & Training Required. Salary range: $33,565-$37,799 + full benefits, take home vehicle and pension.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalent diploma.
  • Must be 19 years of age, and a citizen of the United States.  Must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving perjury or the making of a false claim.
  • Must not have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the armed forces of the United State.
  • Must pass a physical examination with a drug screen, must pass a psychological evaluation.
  • Must demonstrate acceptable physical agility and strength and must have good moral character.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation, including a polygraph examination.
  • Must be able to successfully complete all training requirements including the State required Police Academy curriculum, field training program, periodic in-service training and weaponry qualifications.
    (A comparable amount of education, training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)

  • Valid Florida Class “E” driver’s license
  • Certificate of Completion from Police Academy
  • Certified and Registered with Florida Department of Law Enforcement

Part-Time Service Worker Parks & Recreation $12.00 per hour Open until filled.
Responsible for care and maintaining of city parks, ball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, and all other recreational facilities. Required to participate in all City sponsored special events.  Accountable to and works under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma required.
  • At least one (1) year experience in lawn maintenance or similar work-related field. (A comparable amount of education, training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License
