      Nature Appreciation Hiking Tour

Please join us for a free nature adventure at the Mackay Gardens Preserve as we initiate our new walking tours.  An expert Polk County Master Gardener and an experienced interpretive guide will escort beginners and passionate outdoor enthusiasts alike on a very pleasant one mile hike through the beautiful sub-tropical forest of this shady preserve.  Topics such as the cultural and natural histories of this area, plant and animal identification, conservation issues, nature poems, and interesting trivia for nature lovers will make this trek a fun and informative experience for all.

The number of guests that can be accommodated on each tour is limited so be sure to contact the City of Lake Alfred Parks and Recreation Department today to make reservations.  The tours will begin promptly at the Mackay Gardens Preserve picnic shelter on.

Here is a list of some of the equipment you might want to consider bringing along to insure an enjoyable experience: comfortable walking shoes, a hat, bottled water, sunscreen, insect repellant, a camera, binoculars, and a very lightweight portable stool.

To make your reservation call City of Lake Alfred Parks and Recreation Department at:
