On Monday, November 1, 2021, the Lake Alfred City Commission officially encourages all citizens to recognize the valor and sacrifice of our veterans as we celebrate Veterans Day.
Mayor Daley read the Veterans Day proclamation into the record. It was accepted by Herb Nigg.
Herb Nigg said he was honored to accept this on behalf of all of the Veterans in Lake Alfred and Polk County. This is much appreciated that the City would do this. He continued and said all Veterans have sacrificed something so these types of recognitions are very much appreciated. He concluded by saying thank you very much.
WHEREAS, Americans across the country will be celebrating Veterans Day on
Thursday, November 11, 2021. This annual federal holiday is set aside as a time for honoring all
veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, Veterans Day is observed on November 11th in commemoration of the
anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. Hostilities officially ended in
1918 at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month; and
WHEREAS, we are humbled by the sacrifices rendered by our service members and
their families out of the deepest love of our country; and
WHEREAS, on Veterans Day, we honor all Americans who have served in the Army,
Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard, both in times of war and peace.
WHEREAS, with respect and recognition for the contributions our local servicemen and
women have made to the cause of peace and freedom around the world, the City of Lake
Alfred, Florida, and the City of Auburndale, Florida will pay tribute to our heroes at 11:00 a.m. on
Thursday, November 11, 2021, in Gardner Park located between US Highway 17/92 and Main
Street to honor our Nation’s and our local veterans.
NOW, THEREFORE, I Nancy Z. Daley, Mayor of the City of Lake Alfred, hereby encourage all
citizens to recognize the valor and sacrifice of our veterans as we celebrate:
